looks like tha same old stuff (Dino / part synthetic / full synthetic) except with more addiitives for better cleaning.

anyone seen in the store yet?

any cost comparision between old stuff and new stuff?

Mobil Clean 5000

Want a conventional oil that protects for today's longer oil change intervals? No problem. With Mobil Clean 5000, you’ll get 16 percent more cleaning agents than our conventional oil, Mobil Clean (available in installed facilities only). Extra cleaning power that helps your engine run cleaner than with other conventional oils — even with today’s longer oil change intervals. In fact, Mobil Clean 5000 is guaranteed to provide excellent performance and protection for all car engines for up to 5,000 miles of normal consumer driving.

Mobil Clean 7500

Mobil Clean 7500, a new synthetic blend motor oil, provides outstanding protection for today’s longer service intervals — with 18 percent more cleaning agents than even Mobil Clean 5000 to protect critical engine parts for up to 7,500 miles under typical driving conditions.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance

You've never seen an oil like this before. Mobil 1® Extended Performance is a new high-endurance motor oil with 36 percent more anti-wear additives and 37 percent more cleaning agents than current Mobil 1 formulations. It is a fully synthetic formulation that helps extend engine life, reduce oil breakdown and minimize engine wear -- all while helping to keep your engine clean. Improvements that add up to exceptional protection for 15,000 miles. Guaranteed.

Haven't seen it yet. Just heard of it a few days ago. I did see a post either here or over at the diesel place, of a guy that put it in his 6.0L and swears he's got no more CSK or rattily valves. uhmm...

Hmmm... I can honestly say... 4.3l v6 98' truck... cold start knock even in the summertime. It was this way from day one and took approximately 1 minute to clear up. Switched to Mobil 1 at 30k miles. Never heard it again, traded in at 100k miles.

Odd I know... but it did work for me. I wish I could explain it!

I was thinking of trying the 15000 Mobil oil. I saw the comercial for it a few days ago. but wouldnt you have to change your filter sooner than the 15000 miles.....

I wouldn't have a problem with keeping synthetic oil in for 5,000 miles but not conventional and I certainally would not leave any oil in for 15,000 miles,I don't care what its made out of!!:nopity::crackup::jester::smash:

I'd change the oil filter about 6,000 or so. Extended synth intervals is fine. Obviously, this is PERSONAL OPINION, but I've been using synths since the late 70s and put high mileage on my vehicles.

One note of observation. I looked at the 15,000 Mobil synth bottle and noticed its certifications. It had one certification missing, as compared to the "standard" fully-synthetic Mobile 1 5W-30. That is, the "economy" wording. So, I'm speculating that one will get a slight mp/g loss with the extended Mobil synth as compared to the "standard". Or, it could be that its average economy rating will be a bit lower due to the test-mule's 15,000 mile test.

Anyway, just my opinion.... I don't have any real resources to back this up.

Reguardless of this new formula, I'll still run the M1 full synthetic and change every 2000 miles. (2000 miles is every 3-4 months)

No way I'd leave any oil in past 7000, I dont care what kind it is.

Looks like they caved in like so many of the others,

offering a semi synthetic.

Consumer Reports did a test and said that if you changed the oil every

2500 - 3000 miles, you could use the cheapest stuff out there. But they don't make the payments on my vehicles.

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to use the good stuff though and change it every 3k even if it is a ton of overkill.

read your owners manual with the dino of 10 years ago and non-severe service driving the change oil light could come on as high as 7500miles and the filter to be changed at the same time. The 3k everyone THINKS is the recommended OCI is just brainwashing by service joints and Jiffylube, that is the minimum recommended under severe service with dino. With good air filtration and no short trips even a dino can go long beyond that even with the same filter.

An LS1 f-body owner did a test and sampled oil regularly(so there was makup oil for that ounce or two each thousand miles) with M1 5w-30 which isn't a great choice for that motor much like it isn't for the LT1 the filter lasted to 12K and the oil to 18K, and then with Amsoil they went to like 18K on the same oil and filter. Much of how they went that long was replacing the sampled oil and any that burned off, little topoffs like that really replenish an oils ability to keep things clean.

Again Oil Forum an hour of searching and reading will give you more knowledge than we can give you here. Most there would consider a 5K mile OCI short, the guys that are into bypass filtration can easily triple that and beyond, I don't think bypass is right for a performance application though as it redirects a bit of oil flow from lubrication to run it through the filter and then dumps it back to the crankcase not the oil gallies like a regular filter.

this was a reply from another fourm. Just thought I would share

I have always believed that synthetic was best. All my vehicles have worked very, very well using it, but when porsche just raised the oil changes to 15,000 miles, that was the final clue that fake oil is the best! I have seen many dyno reports of improved horsepower with it, but I do enjoy going 15,000 miles without a change (I change filter at 7500 miles) I am so glad that I can sleep at night knowing my oil valley's are not clogged like many engines I have seen.

It should be noted that Porsche still says you have to change the oil once a year if you dont drive more than 15k a year (very few owners do). Personally, I dont think there is any reason to change oil more frequently than the oil life montior says too. Changing before this is just wasting money. I use Mobil full syn 5w-30 in both my trucks since the first oil change and have never heard CSK noises (haha...knock on wood) . I just feel the engine runs smoother on M1.
