Cellular Wiring

Anybody have any idea regarding the jack underneath the dash on the drivers side that is a 6 prong jack labeled for Cel phone?  Could this be used to interface a cellular handsfree kit into the audio system?

Based on my multimeter tests...there are several hot prongs located here.  Any ideas or knowledge would be appreciated.

Oops...Sorry.  I'm refering to the Avalanche.

Ideally I would like to incorporate my handsfree kit into the existing audio system similar to the Onstar or at least mute the radio when I have a call...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't know, but I have a connection in my HD.  I think it's under the cup holders in the center console...  I wouldn't mind figuring out a way to hook my cell up for handsfree, and to use the OnStar antenna...

Hmmm, ok wahoo, now you have my curiosity piqued.  When I get the Avalanche back tommorow, I will have a look, and maybe ask my alarm guy extrodinaire when I pick it up.  Where exactly is this plug??

Make sure you aren't looking at the diagnostic plug in - thats where the shop charges you 50 bucks to reset the oddometer when you change tires - at least that is where the HyperProgrammer writeup says it is.

The plug I'm refering to is behind a black access panel that is secured with a plastic nut.  This panel contains several unused jacks along with a few relays.  In the owners guide and on the flip side of the removed panel is a label refering to the 6-prong cel phone jack.

Ok, I know where your refering to now.  That is (to the best of my knowledge) the power distribution block for connecting add ons like the trailer brake set up.  I will talk to Jesse today when I pick up the Avalanche, and see what he says.  I know that there were a few onstar systems that utilized a handset style interface, maybe that is what it is designed for.  Very interesting question.....

Well my harness wasn't where I was told it was (under the cup holder).  I checked today, and all that was in there was the heater/AC ducts for the rear seat...

Well, I struck out with Jesse.  He isn't aware of what it is, and they were until a short time ago the GM radio shop in town.

Maybe my 'service advisor' might know - ROFLMAO!!!

Sorry man,
