PF46 and pf59 oil filter question

In the owners manual it says my truck uses a pf46 but went to outozone today and looked at them and it is a short model. In my old S-10 the manual said it used a short one but a longer oil filter came on it. Is the PF59 the longer filter for the 6.0 trucks, will it work?

The PF46 is the "replacement" for the -59 with the newest oil life monitor system.

There needed to be a bit more flow control for the computer to accurately monitor some of the system.

As for the 44 it is a factory filter that is interchangable with the -46. I think that the -44 is used at the factory because it has a bit higher filtering capability for the initial material that comes out of a new motor.

You probably could verify it but cutting a -44 and a -46 open and comparing the density of the substrate.

Hope this helps.
