hould anybody recomebd a westers pcm for a 01 1/2 ton silverado or does anybody have one on that model

Heck yeah! I did my '03 with a Westers and sung the praises. Excellent modification. I requested low-end throttle response improvement for city traffic, and economy. The result was a marked improvement for in-town mileage.

thanks. what did it end up costing total with shipping and everything?

Gosh, I can't remember. That was a long time ago. $550??? $450???

01, Wester's custom tunes are hands-down the single best bang-for-the-buck mod you can do. I know a guy that got over 30hp with his Wester's tune.

I have a stock dyno run, still gotta do my after, but I've cut 1.2 seconds off my 1/4mile and got a 3mpg boost in town.

Tune for your truck is $495.

I guarantee you'll love it :D

So is wester's better than Hypertech?

Oh, man, there is NO comparison !!

A handheld- ANY handheld- is a paperweight compared to a custom tune. Keep in mind, handhelds are generic- they're made to fit ANYONE's vehicle, anywhere (within model, of course). It'll let you change a few parameters, but all of those parameters will be limited in their range.

Eventually, you can outgrow a handheld, but you'll never outgrow a Wester's custom tune.

I thought the same thing that a hypertech was the way to go but then my buddy bought one for his 97 silverado and he got beat by a v6 mustang. if a hypertech does as good as advertised you would think it would beat a v6 mustang.
