All the new model trucks limit you to a certine speed like 98 or so for saftey reasons im guessing

Most all new trucks have a top speed limiter, I'm assuming the Avalanche does too.  You can buy a Jet Chip, Speed Control Unit for half the price of a Hypertech 3, to remove the top speed limiter.  Or you could just slow down-

Just buy a Hypertech power programmer JJ.

that will let you raise the limit to what ever the tires alow.

And yes, guys, 100 is VERY possible on the Mass pike. Normal traffic flow is 80 or above! :o

Especially west of Springfield and especially when one used to have that  patrol area....I know the hiding spots all too well but the rookie Troopers (that's where the newbies are sent) could give a rats arse less what I used to be :( My car has seen the 160 number with lots more to go :)

Know what you mean!! My first week out of law enforcement I got 3 tickets....2 in one night!!!!  Washington DC Beltway.......MD State Troopers....

The limitation is the tires...their speed rating is 99 mph.  Technically you shouldn't raise the governor on your vehicle unless you replace the tires with something that has a higher speed rating...technically...

Bounced off the top-speed limiter many times in my '96 and '99 pickups...as far as the intelligence of exceeding the recommended speed ratings of the tires...not smart.

BUT, before I knew about speed ratings and such I used to regularly exceed the limits on my old cars in high school and college...these were carbureted cars with no speed limiters and VERY cheap low-speed tires.

Don't try this at home!
