Hello, My "Service engine soon " light comes on periodicaly in my 2000 Silverado

5.3L Extra cab Z-71. When the light was on the "Tech" from the dealer said that a code of th "Powertrain control Module" Came up then cleared. I checked into this module and there is 2 of them. How can i be sure what to do to fix this problem.

also, you should know that the light isn't on all the time, it is only some times, but when it is on i have lost a lot of power. I have checked the fuel cap every time because i know that than can cause the light to come on also.

It's getting very confusing

I checked The airpump as you suggested and it works fine. no evidence of water even remotly close. It starts up for a moment as you described and then shut off.

it seems to be working fine. but the light is still on.

There is only one PCM. Get the code #'s so we can figure out whats going on. :fume:

this is what the ech gave me for reference:

ALLDATA - Online - 2000 Chevy Truck K 1500 P/U 4WD V8-5.3L Vin T - P1416

DTC P0410

DTC P1415, P1416

I hope this is what you needed

I'll look for any moisture in or around the air pump, if that doesn't do it i need to find out wich side isn't correct and therefore the PCM should be replaced?

or is there something else i should do first?

thanx.... :D

The PCM is rarely a problem. Water around the pump isn't a problem, only water IN the pump. But I can't say I've ever seen water in the air pump on a C/K truck, only the S10's.

The pump is over on the passenger side, where the fender meets the bulkhead (firewall). As long as it's not freezing a$$ cold where you're at, the pump should run for a short time when you first start the truck up. So see if it does. You should be able to hear it, you can certainly feel it if you put your hand on it.

DTC P0410

DTC P1415, P1416

Unusual to have all those. They're all SAI related (secondary air injection). P0410 is for neither side responding. P1415 and P1416 is for the left and right (not nec. in that order) not responding.

If one side doesn't respond, you should get one of the 14xx codes. If both sides don't respond, you shouldn't get both 14xx codes, just the P0410.

Seen some problems with water in the air pump, but mostly on the S truck and the Lumina.
