Cab mount bushing

It seems that a cab mount bushing went bad on the passenger side. It squeaks and rattles alot at slow speeds. I do have nerf bars but the truck is only 4 weeks old. Anyone else have this issue?

How do you know it's a cab mount bushing? Maybe the nerf bar is installed incorrectly, bridging between the cab and the frame, and not being happy about it.

Cab mount bushings are big, round, rubber things trapped in sheet metal, if I remember correctly. What does yours look like?

I had a similiar issue that was the step bars. I live in Alaska and I found that Ice had actually made a bridge between my step and the body of the truck. Before I noticed a problem I was hearing a rattle in the front area when I went over bumps. Knocke dthe ice off and no more problems. I would double check the step bars and anything else in the area of the noise. Look for anyplace there is contact, closeness or rubbing (with exception to the mounting points). If it is a body mount and you have had it only 4 weeks (assuming this is under warranty) take it to the dealer. Good luck!

Where does the noise sound like it's coming from? If it's near the transmission tunnel, I'll bet there's a clip that hold the tranny cooler lines that has made contact with the trans tunnel under the cab. I has the same symptoms and after many trips to the dealer without success, I finally found it. Just slide the clip up a little so it doesn't rub the tunnel.

A few years ago (well, 15 years ago, actually) I had a squeak in the cab of my '86 3/4 ton chevy. It drove me nuts; I was sure it was either the seat, or something in the cab. Would change depending on the weather, seemed also to matter if I had a passenger.

Finally took-the-seat-out and drove it (edit: the truck, not the seat) down the driveway (with an assistant). Still squeaked. So it wasn't the seat. Layed down on the floor pan and discovered it was coming from below.

Crawled underneath and it turned out to be a cable-tie whose loose tip was just lightly scratching the floor pan. Twisted it around so it didn't rub, and problem fixed!

I couldn't believe how many miles (and years) that had irritated me. Sounds like the same kind of thing JRKRACE is talking about.

I just had a similar problem on my 5 week old 2500 HD DMax. The nerf bar on the passenger side had a loose bolt.

How close are the rear mounting brackets for your nerf bars to the inside lip of the lower cab sheet metal? Mine are extremely close (less than 1/4" space) even after I positioned them as far away from the metal as I could. I worry that the cab might make contact with them anyway, but so far so good..

(Same mounting brackets as Westin full-length steps, but mine are SS)
