Hi there,

I posted earlier about my new 1/2 ton crewcab that was handling like a pregnant cow.

I'm happy to say that after adding a rear sway bar and bilstein shocks that it now handles much better. I also cranked the t-bars an inch or so.

I can take the corners near my house which previously caused the truck to really roll doing 50 now can be taken doing 65 with very little roll.

The floaty feeling has also been reduced, the bilsteins feel like they rebound quicker.

Now just have to get rid of the junk passenger rated tires. They are the bridgestone duelers. Love the revos hate the duelers.

I also made a ram air out of some 3" flexible hose that I brought up through the bottom of airbox, and added a Fram airhog filter(basically an orange K&N).

The throttle response is quicker and stronger with a nice growl.

I got the sway bar from performance products. Its from addco, I think it cost around $130. Took a trip this weekend and the handling of the truck was great, pretty much the same as my 2001 Z-71(which I traded for a mini cooper) which had monroe sensatracs, cranked t-bars, and revos. This was what I was trying to accomplish.

I think a truck should handle like a truck and not like a cadillac.

I have to ask... how do you like the crew cab? I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 4.8 ext cab right now. Trading it in Saturday morning and getting either the birch or summit white crew cab with 5.3. I sat in them, and the extra 4 " in the cab makes it feel like a tahoe w/o cargo area. I am looking the the most basic i can get with the BOSE stereo. I have a nice pioneer in the sierra but the aftermarket XM sucks. I am just going to slide my 2 X10" under the rear seats.

Is there enough room under there, or similar space to whats under the back seat in a 2000 gmc sierra ext?

What are some of the pros and cons you ahve expereinced, besides the body roll? Have you gotten any accessories besides those you mentioned in this thread. I'm looking at spray in liner, and maybe an ARE cap. I'll probably leave it open air for a while though. I love GMS pricing.

Under the back seats there is no room, due to the fram and mechanicles that let them flip forward and down, but there is about 6-8" behind them when they are up.

sounds like i'll have to stop in the dealer and take a closer look. as long as i can get y 10" subs in there somewhere i'll be happpy. The stock bose sound great, but i just need a little extra bump to it.

I love mine...as you can see in my signature...I have one that is simular to what you are looking for with several more options. I think in the corners you have to realize what your driving. I do notice a bit of porpusing (sp). I think that the shocks are valved too soft...but this can be fixed by adding $79 per corner (Bilstein's or Edelbrock's). I don't know if the shocks are hydrolic or gas charged...but they are way too soft. Don't let this stop you. The crue cab is a tahoe witha bed. If you want pics...pm me your email address. It is truely a great vehicle. Are there newer models out there...sure...but not at these prices.

I also have the bose system. Glad I have it. I don't have to do anything aftermarket. Then again...I'm almost 38...and past that stage. The system seems to be very well rounded.

Again, if you have any questions...I'm a fresh new owner as of 4-23-05 and 3100 miles ago so fire away.

Other than the soft ride (which is now fixed) I love this truck compared to my 2001 extended cab. Can easily haul 4 adults. Has a little more pep than the 01. The only other thing I've added is a set of stainless nerf bars. Will likely add a bug guard and some stainless rocker panel covers.

I paid $60 a piece for the bilsteins. Worth every penny. I like them better than the sensatracs that were on my old truck. They are a little stiffer than the sensatracs were.
