Want to know if a dealership can disable computer from reporting certain error codes. Here's why I ask. Had trouble two times within a month with oxygen sensors going bad...they replaced/fixed both times. My average gas mileage is only running 15.5 mpg...tailpipe is sooty black. I think something is still not right so I pulled the connector on one of the oxygen sensors to see if check engine light/error code comes on...it didn't.

Which oxygen sensor you disconnected and for how long, it takes a bit of time for light to come up.

The best way to see oxygen sensors working is to put their voltage output on the graph, with time on on x axis, and drive / idle a bit, to see and understand what and how oxygen sensors do.
