I have a small problem with mounting the radio it self. I have a manual transmission which gives me little room (9inches) for a bought hump mount(12inches). I know some people around here have manual transmissions and also have CBs. For one there is no room under the bench seat or under the dash with out interfering with driving(I am tall). Then my second question is where to route the wire. I prefer not to drill. so maybe the roof with magnet or I was also thinking the bed which currently has a cap which may interfere also.

Thanks so much in advance

ps if you live or know a place in or around ohio that sells cbs it would be extremely helpful

I don't know a lot about the Sonoma line, but my full size Chevy had a double-din factory radio. I took that out and installed a single din radio (Pioneer) and also a Cobra 18WXST in the other din slot. Click on "View Vehicles" under my id and check out what I'm talking about.

If you're interested in doing something like this email me.

PS: you'll have to wait for the "garage" to be fixed before you can view my install in "View Vehicles". It's been busted for a few days, they're working on fixing it.

I put mine in my overhead console. I mounted the Antenna on the roof with a magnet mount and ran the wire through the 3rd brake light over the headliner and to the overhead console. I ran the PA wire down the pillar to under the hood and right behind the grill where I mounted a loud speaker. and a good source for CB radios is ebay. They go CHEAP!!! I got my Cobra almost new for $20

My truck is a fullsize, and automatic, but I just popped a couple multi-use screws into the bottom of the dash, in the center. Hung my Cobra 29 right there, it's out of the way of my feet yet easy to reach. I ran my coax under the seat, out through the opening (don't know what they are called, one on each side) in the back of the cab, and up to my Wilson 5000 magnet mount. The wires, I ran those out to the battery (less noise that way), just ran them out next to the fuse access panel on the driver's side. Put some velco on my little XForce 2 pill amp, stuck that under the seat. I had a similar setup in my old manual transmission Ranger, no reason you can't fit a radio in a Sonoma.

BTW, anybody who has questions about CB's, or wants to get theirs "peaked", let me know. I do this stuff as a hobby/sideline. Also, I will be listing a NICE Cobra 29 and a 2 pill 100+ watt amp on Ebay soon.

well this seemed to be an appropiate place to say this, I have a cobra 29 and mounted it to the plastic cover under the cig lighter. After 3 years the plastic clip on the right broke off and the plastic piece was just hanging by the left clip and the two screws on the bottom. Since I happen to have a 3" hinge collecting dust, I screwed it into the plastic panel and the column that is in between the ash tray and glove box.
