I know the one on the bottom is the new K5 Blazer they're planning on releasing.  Personally, I would love to have the top one, like a full size Blazer.  Only having the S-10 Blazer and 2 door Tahoes, leaves a hole in the marketplace for those who liked the old full size Blazers.  I think they dropped that line in 95.  Mid size doesn't do too much for this full size guy-

I saw the top one before the 99's came out. That was a concept they were playing with back then.

I wonder what they do with all the concepts after they're done with them?

They both look pretty cool...  Too bad that most concepts dont get produced.. I think GM could narrow there huge line up of cars/trucks and then they could put some into production..

I saw recently a TV show that was gi en access to GM's concept facility.  Every concept made by GM is housed under high security (if I remember right) in a huge facility where the concept cars are wrapped and stored on huge shelves.  Car guys toy store on steroids!!!!!!!!!

GM would do well to produce the full size Blazer again. The market has a huge gap in this area. I too would like to see the Duramax option.

Actually, guys, the K5 concept (the bottom one) is supposed to be the next gen fullsize Blazer.  They just haven't shown it too often with the hardtop in place -- they wanted to focus on it being removable since that's what a lot of people did with the old K5's.

As far as the white one is concerned, I may be wrong, but I believe it is in production already -- on the foreign market, particularly Mexico and South America, much like the crew cab S-10 has been for years.

If you look at the top pic of the modern K5, Ford also has a concept for a new bronco, whic is essentially an excursion with two doors.  Aside from the different styling, the two are almost the same.

The build the white one for sale and use in Mexico currently....  

 

The red one is a concept, that alot of hope to get built.....

 

Concepts do make it to reality, as we all know the Avalance and Aztec are proof of that ....   :thumbs:

i hope they build a k5, the white one is really cool.  if gm made a new k5 that would spawn a new bronco (ive seen some awsome drawings of a super duty based bronco concept)

From the information I have gathered on the K5 it looks like it will have the 6.0. I am getting the feeling that GM will produce this truck, most likely in 03 or 04.

It does look pretty cool.  I think it isn't able to pass DOT requirements, so that is why we don't see them here.  I don't know anymore how well a two door vehicle will sell in the country.  Even with pickups we are seeing a shift away from two doors, it'll be a tough go for it.

      How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.

      Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?

      What are your thoughts? The Chevy Blazer relaunch was an epic case of 'lunchbag letdown'. Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos stick out like a sore thumb.    The AI photos do not look like a 'retro version', but shrunken Tahoes. Get away from the 'futuristic look'. I've seen two concepts. One had rectangular headlight like a Rivian and the other way too big headlights (similar to a previous non-Wrangler SUV) should include dual round headlights like the early version.   If not this would look OK   At least it has GM styling (albeit the K2XX) A lot of the images floating around look like Bronco IIs or the current Bronco. Looking at the Broncos in my area (central Ontario, it seems to be a mix of 2 doors and 4 doors, 'mall rated' to ones that could go offroad.    I'm sure a AT4 and AT4X RPOs could be outfitted similar to a Rubicon if the braintrust understood the whole offroad scene. Crossing my fingers that if it does see the light that the front air dam/bumper doesn't extend below the center line of the tire...
