Torsion Bar

on my 2003 Denali XL, I noticed the drivers side was 1/2" lower than the other side in ride height. So I crawl under there with my 18mm socket, and noticed that the adjust bolt was almost turned all the way in !!! This is the side that needed to be raised.

On the passenger side, there is plenty of adjustment left. I could probably get another 20 turns out of the bolt.

Is my torsion bar weak ??

can ya'll look under your trucks... and see it the driver side adjuster bolt is almost turned all the way in ????? and the passenger side has about 1+" of adjustment left !!

thx

Try wearing only one shoe, it should level out the look of your truck. Things like that are hard to judge over the internet, so you'll have to experiment to determine variables such as which appendage to attach the desired footwear. There is also the matter of to what extent you want to level your view. Perhaps you could start with a thicker soled shoe, such as Dr. Martin or a Sketcher...Then move down in shoe height, possibly as thin as a shower-shoe or moccasin. You may wind up wearing an over-the-calf ladies stocking on the left foot and something in a low pump on your right (just make sure you aren't wearing white after Labor Day) for fine-tuning.

All kidding aside, every truck that I've messed with the bars on, had one bolt nearly topped out, and the other backed out quite a bit.

I would guess that you could install a set of the Ford keys to get some more adjustment out of them.

My 2000 silverado Z71 1500 is the same. Drivers side torsion is turned almost all the way in and the passenger side has plenty to go...............not sure why they are set up this way.

Lower the otherside to match.

The trucks are sitting level on the left and right side. You cant just unwind the passenger side torsion adjustment so it matches the drivers side. They seem to be installed this way from the factory.

who said the trucks are sitting level from side to side.

they are NOT, and that was the purpose of my original post.

one side is 1/2" lower, and the truck has a pull to the left.

my typo........I was referring to my truck sitting level even thought the torsion adjusters are no where near in the same positions.
