steering squeal

Recently returned from vacation and spending some extra time driving my 04 Crew. I've noticed a little problem that doesn't sound like much but it is driving me crazy. It sounds like a power steering belt that is squealing just a little, but it only does it when I'm turning left. It's as quiet as a mouse when turning right. Looks like if it were a belt the squeal would happen no matter which way the wheel is turned. I definitely can tell this is the area it's coming from. (I guess my truck is a conservative since every time I turn it left it groans, actually squeals. :D ) Anyway, does anyone have a clue or similar experience? BTW I did have a power steering pump replacement back in January for the loud pump problem. This isn't that noise, but maybe a tensioner???? that wasn't put back right..... again opinions appreciated.

Doubt if it's the same problem because yours is much newer than mine. . .but I had the same sort of problem - usually when I would back to the left though. I had bad front differential rear input and left output seals. I also had a leak with associated with it though. I haven't noticed anymore squeling in the wheel.

I had the same problem on my '00 and my '03. My work order states that the gear P/N: 088963415 was replaced. Haven't had a problem since.

Sounds like a steering gear. Done quite a few. You're right, the belt would make noise no matter which way you turned and in fact, you wouldn't even need to be turning.
