34,000 and counting

Hey all,

My 2004 Silverado so far has 34,000 miles on it and have had absolutely no problems with it.

I have changed my oil every 3-5,000 miles using Mobil 1 Synthetic with AC Delco Oil Filters.

My question is what about transmission fluid changing. I don't know how and don't want to get into doing all that. What do you recommend on that and

Can I go to any Chevy Dealer and get my truck serviced ( recalls ) that kind of stuff and whta kind of maintenance do you recommend me do with me having 34,000 miles on the only vehicle I have to drive.

Fluid Service

A good thread here to answer your transmission question. Blue Tahoe has a good post.

I would change the tranny fluidand filter ar 50k intervals. The rest of your fluids and spark plugs should last 100k, according to the manual. You can go to any Chevrolet dealer and ask if there are any bulletins on your truck. They will just need the VIN.

Glad you are having a good experience with your truck. These GM trucks are hard to beat!

I'm guessing from your vehicle's age/mileage that it's freeway driving? Depending on what type of driving and if you tow or not, early fluid changes(axles and t-case) aren't always a bad idea. I think I did mine at 36k, but then my truck was 3 years old at the time.

yea its all highway miles.

I'm just leary in changing the fluid out. But yea its all straight highway and the most I've had it loaded was a full rick of wood.
