01 Silverado 1500 starting problems

My 01 has began having issues starting every now and again. It will crank and start but the idle is verry low and dies after about 5 seconds. I have to rev it up until i can get it into gear and then it will keep going good. The problem is intermittent and has only happened about 4 times in the last 3 months. However I want to get this taken care of before it becomes a major problem.

my step dads 01 done this it would start for a few seconds and die sometimes it done this sometimes it was fine me and him was about 600 miles away from home and stopped to get something to eat and when we came back out it would not start at all we took it to the dealer and there is a security thing in the steering coulam that went bad it was telling the computer that the truck had been stolen so it would not start it cost him around 200 dollars to get this fixed if i was you i would take it to the dealer and make sure that is your problem before it leaves you sitting some where
