CD Initializing? Anyone seen this?

I have an 03 Tahoe w/ XM and 6 disk CD Changer in dash. Last week it took a CD per normal loading and then skipped it and began a weird loop that reads out CD INITIALIZING on the display and won't change disks, eject disks or do anything to speak of. AM, FM and XM all work normally but the CD player is shot.

Anyone seen this before?

It seems like there are a few issues with recent factory GM CD players. Even though the units don't look the same, my wife's 2004 Malibu w/6 disc CD & XM did the same thing. We ended up having to get it replaced under warranty. The dealership sent the unit back in (W/CDs still stuck in it) and called us once they received our CDs back so we could pick them up.

Good luck getting this fixed.

same thing here. no problem getting it replaced, it is 3 trips to the dealer though -

1. take unit out and get numbers off of back

2. replace unit

3. pick up cd's

I had the same problem happen to me last week.  What is going on.

the cd player is pretty finicky with the changer. mine went bad because my stupid brother force fed it a cd without pushing the load button and waiting for the green light first.

however, i have had no problems since i had the radio replaced. also i told my brother he is not allowed to touch my radio. :smash:
