75woody Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Just got a 2003 CC Dmax. I want to level it out. What is the difference between cranking the t-bars and putting new t-bar keys under it? Is one better than the other?
heavy4x4 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Add new keys if you need more lift than you can achieve by maxing out your adjusting bolts.
facn8me Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Considering it's kinda the exact same thing, it might be best to see if your's can be adjusted up to your liking before spending money for nothing. It may need keys but that would only be if you did not have any/enough adjustment.

So do the new keys just give you more adjustability than the oem ones?
Wingnut Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 The new keys for a HD truck are actually OEM, but they're off of a half-ton (1500 series). They're just indexed at a slightly different angle, giving you a bit more adjustment. If you think that's weird...For the 1500s, the keys to get are the torsion bar keys off of a Ford.
Freyguy Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 You should be fine with the stock ones. I first leveled my truck because one side was 1/2 " too low, then went up an additional 1.5" on the stock keys. It sits pretty level now and I still have some turns left on the bolts.
curly Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I just cranked the TBs on my '05 and I am within a 1/4" of being level so I left it alone. I have a set of keys that I removed from my 1500 (after I put Ford keys on it) just in case the front starts to "sag".... I'm glad I didn't throw them away now. Being a packrat isn't that bad after all !
