Anyone out there running BioDiesel? Just wondering how it is. How much does it cost per gallon?

I have been reading about it lately and it got me thinking

Thanks

That guy on that "Trucks" TV show showed how it was made...It looks pretty easy to setup and make your own.

Of course, it looked like he had a couple grand in the equipment, so that would offset the savings quite a bit...Go figure. :(

That trucks show was amazing. From what I remember the Kit was about 2k - 3k, and it would make about 40 gallons every 4 days or so. After the cost of the kit, the biodeisel will run you about 70 cents a gallon. That of course is if you can get the oil for free.

Depending on where you are their are gas stations that carry bio deisel. Search good for bio desiel dealers, and you might find one in your area. Some of the dealers offer a 40% Mix with regular fuel, but it should be cheaper then just staight desiel.

Good Luck, it sounds like a cool project. I love making my own beer, and it can't be much diffrent!!!!

I am not talking about the make it yourself fuel but the kind you can get at a gas station.

Timberwolf I have been trying to access it for awhile now and today is the first day it works.

Bad thing is nothing is real close and it probably would be worth driving to

I was just wondering if anyone is running it in their duramax and what grade (B2, B5, etc)

Also was wondering cost if it was more or less.

I seen at the state fair all the tractors were running it.

Yes, you're right ALL the State Fair vehicles did run on Biodiesel. What part of town are you on? There are several stations in Indianapolis that carry it. I haven't priced it lately and never tried it, but historically it has been higher than regular diesel. It may be about the same now that prices have risen. There is a Citco station close to my house that is supposed to have it. I just haven't had time to stop by and check it out yet.

I live on the west side (Avon). I dont have a diesel (yet). I have read there are some tax breaks on using biodiesel. Using the biodiesel.org site there really arent many in the indy area (pittsboro, noblesville, danville).

Did you go to the state fair? I was disappointed I am glad I had free tix. First time I have ever went (just moved down to the indy area this past January origianlly from NW Indiana). Best part was the GM tent (impala ss and gto) this past sunday.

Didn't get out to the fair this year. All my kids should be old enough next year, so I'll go then. The producers and stations get tax breaks, but the cost to produce is higher, so we never see the benefit like the ethanol gas does. I think there is supposed to be a station in Brownsburg that has it. Can't remember for sure. Are you going out to Terre Haute Aug 25-27 for Scheid Dieselfest? There will be alot of Diesel accesory vendors set up there. It would be a great place to go if you're interested in getting a diesel eventually and want to ask some questions. Here's a schedule: http://www.scheiddiesel.com/extravaganza05.htm
