How to mount my amp?

Recommended Posts

I've got a 1998 3-door extended cab Silverado, and I've got two 10's in a Downfire Probox underneath the back seat. I need to mount my amp (Kenwood 800 w/ cooling fan) to the back wall of my truck. Any ideas on how I should do this? I've heard of people using self-tapping screws right into the back wall, and siliconing them. I was thinking I should mount a piece of MDF or something back there first for an amp rack. Right now the amp is just floating back there, and I really need to get it mounted.

Either way would work. I have both of my amps, capacitor, and power distribution block mounted to a carpeted board, and the board is mounted to the back wall.

I have both my amps and power distribution block screwed directly into the back wall. My cap is bolted to the floor.

No problems here either (going on 2 years).

Either way will work fine.

Thank you both, I'm going to try to do the carpeted board on the back wall
