Best Bang for the buck

I had this on the wrong message board.

Here goes......

Just picked up a 93 GMC 1500 Choo Choo custom. nice shape, great price, 120K. 350ci (K), 5 speed.

Want to get a bit more HP out of it without losing MPG. I figure headers & duals, a better intake filter system. Suggestions on both?????

Down the line a bit I'd like to go with a 700r. Which one, years can I use? I can't se it being a big job because it's standard now. Figure I can just get a wiring kit for the tranny...Am I wrong?

Any other Choo Choo Customs on here?

Thanks,

Reverend Colin

The intake and heads on those trucks are really restrictive, I'd start with those along with maybe a cam swap and a tune.

Heck, a tune can wake them up pretty good on it's own.

But truly the best bang for the buck as far as horsepower goes...Is a supercharger.

I had a 1990, regular cab, step side, 350 with a 5 speed, so basically the same truck. I had put a throttle body spacer, flowmaster cat back, and a new CAI on it and it was a lot better.

1.) Muffler should be about $350

2.) throttle body spacer was really cheap, like $75 with an install

3.) CAI was probably another $300

I would probably do the Throttle body and muffler first, imo.

looking at the Edelbrock Multi-Point EFI set up (about a grand) with stock cam and a set of long headers...dual exhaust. Anyone used this setup?

Yea I've alway wanted to run a supercharge...but I want it for everyday driving too.

Amen,

Reverend Colin
