Looking at a 1500 for fuel economy reasons..........occasionally I may have a decent load in the back and don't want the truck looking like its dragging its rear around.............what should be done? Leaf springs? Shocks? Not trying to spend a lot of money so I figure the leaf springs. Thanks!

I've always done the springs first. I had a 90 blazer that I use to put all sorts of garden stuff in. Bricks, patio stones, bags of concrete wood, etc. First thing I did was get new "re'arc'd" springs and told them to add an extra leaf. That certainly helped ride hide and load capacity. Pretty sure I came to or just over my GVW. I plan on doing that with my 1500 in the next couple of years followed with a pair Timbren helper bumpstops.

I have been told though not to get too carried away as the 1500 Chassis isn't designed to hold really heavy loads. The 2500 chassis is far better for hauling but, I figure for a $500 Can New springs and bump stops is far cheaper than a 2500.

Air bags are prolly a good bet to, I just don't want the hassle of always filling them up or having one blow out on me or anything like that.... Springs first and Rancho 5000 or 9000 shocks....

Just my Canadian 2bits worth....
