Digital Climate Control

Hey GM-Tech,

I figured you were the right guy to ask for this. I have been thinking this over alot. My single cab truck came with standard dual climate and not digital climate, as it isn't available in single cabs. Last year when I had my 2004 extended cab(same standard dual climate control), I tried swapping it with my friends unit that was digital climate. As you probably know, one plug fits and the other one doesnt. The one plug that does, powers the unit, works the condenser and I believe the defrost. Now, what I am wanting to know is, if I ordered the wiring harness for the digital climate control and got the pinouts for fan speed and recirulation, wouldnt it work if I cut and soldered the wires from my harness on the new harness?? I hope you follow me because I kinda think it would work. I know the auto funtion on the unit would not work but I hate it anyway. But, besides the addition of auto, arent the standard dual climate and digital the same?? If the basic functions work as in: A/C, defrost, fan speed, and temperture. Thanks in advance!!

Wish i could do that...mine didnt even come with vacuum lines to turn the knobs...as you turn the knobs, you hear clicking...physically moving the flaps to direct the airflow...yeah its a bit stripped...

No workie... some guys here have tried it in the past on this board. The computer just won't talk to it and you don't have the sensors to feed it the info it needs.

Honestly, I would be happy to trade the AUTO for the dual manual. The AUTO just doesn't work well and I use it in "manual" mode most of the time. My '03's dual manual works perfectly. Easy to use, intuitive.
