C A R question

said car has been in the custody of a local shop for a month now.

Last thing i touched was the Transmission Converter Clutch plug... plugged it back in since it was pulled out 3 years ago for not unlocking (wanted to see if it would work)

Ran the car up the road and it locked the torque converter and unlocked upon stopping as it should... yay... ran it home, shut it off, came out later to run it and we have a no start.

discovered poor fuel pressure, so we put in new filter...which led to putting in new fuel lines because they were rotten, and new plugs since they were due.... now we have great fuel pressure. so great that it pumped a gallon into the oil pan.

we towed it to the shop at this point figuring it would be a computer problem. Car will start with throttle being held 3/4 open and rev there but will die at idle after a few seconds. Swapped computer with salvage yard part deemed "good used".

I'm thinking the catylitic is really wet or the MAP or fuel regulator is screwing up... shop mechanic says it threw no codes and sensors are fine.... could I have spiked the computer by plugging in the TCC harness?

I believe we have good spark and this is a 2.8 MFI engine

Any thoughts or suggestions???

No, I highly doubt it. As to what's wrong... who knows. With these types of problems sitting right in front of me, they can be difficult to figure out. With the limited info you have... impossible. I couldn't even guess.

Dude, you have put the clue in front of you.....

You say you pumped fuel into the oil pan...You have at least 1 injector hung wide open. Pull the plugs and see which one dumps fuel outta it.

You converter is probably melted down as well so that will require changing.

I had an 86 Lesabre with the same problems you describe and more. The gentleman I got the car from said he took it to a shop and after 800 dollars worth of work still same problem. The shop put in timing chain, cam/crank sensor, fuel pump, fuel press regulator...Still no fix.

Dig a little deeper and you will find it. Good Luck, post back your results.
