wheels & tires for an '05

Recommended Posts

I just bought an 05 sierra 1500 extended cab, and put in a 2" lift at the dealer (bigger blocks and torsion bar adjustment with an alignment).

I'm looking for new wheels and tires. I bought Dunlop RVXT's for the winter, and they're amazing. Will get me out of anything in the winter. I like to go snowmobiling so I often drive thru deep snow on mountain backroads.

For next year, I want to get some good LT tires and some American Racing Victor's. I was thinking about 285-65-17 Toyo Open Country AT's on the 17" victors. I can't decide between chrome and teflon.

Anybody have any experiences? I'd be very grateful for the input. Thanks everyone.

Lot of mixed reviews on the Toyos. Some love them, some want to burn down the factory.

A guy at work here has gotten about 70k miles out of his, and says that they have great traction...But he doesn't drive his truck in the rain, or off road. No, I don't know why he has a truck.

And I'm a huge fan of the teflon rims. I like the Mojave Teflons myself. I had a used set picked out to buy last week (they were 18s too), but the guy showed up with 8 lug rims. Yeah buddy, you know I own 1/2 tons...Tool.

what about the guy who hit the trees at 50 mph? He had teflon Victors on his truck, and then bought an 8-bolt. Wonder if he has those for sale? I wonder if they're 16's or 17's though.

I hear ya on the toyo's. Maybe I ought to go for BFG KO's instead?

C'mon guys, help me out here.... :chevy:

I'd definetly go with the BFG KO's over the Toyo's for sure,Not even a question there. (Of course I prefer Goodyear's over BFG's but thats another story!)

I agree with Wingnut on the Teflon wheels also,I like'em! :chevy:

Thanks guys. Teflons it is!

But as for tires, I'm not sure if I want the BFG t/a KO's, the revos, or the Toyos.

I'm kinda thinking the T/A's.

Any help wud be appreciated!
