West Coast Mirrors....

I noticed that GM has an option for west coast mirrors... anybody have them on the newer, 2003+, trucks (factory option ones that is)...

A west coast mirror is the tall skinny (7" x 16") glass size, like a semi truck mirror, I mainly see on 1 ton trucks with cargo bodys, or stake trucks. They might look odd on a regular truck unless you tow all the time.

I know what a west coast mirror is...

 

I was just curious what they looked like as I have never seen them on a newer pickup....Do they mount/look like the old style?? Are they plastic or metal??

 

I have seen them on the larger trucks (C4500 etc.) but not the pickups...

If you build a GMC commercial, chassis cab, you will see that there are 5 mirror choices and one is the west coast style. There is one (3500 Chassis cab) on the lot here with WC mirrors. They are stainless steel and it looks like there are about 4 or 5 ancor points on the door for bolts. They stick out very far, looks like a new truck with a mirror that has 60's styling. Like I said, looks like availability from the factory is on chassis cabs only. I'm sure you could take any truck and blank out the mirror attachment points and add the WC. Yes, I've seen them, no I would not recommend them.

FYI...There is a west coast option on all GM trucks 2500hd and up.....just tried it....

They also make a OSV/RV (Obstructed Veiw/RV)Mirror. It pivots horizontially on a 90 degree bar similar to OBS trucks, but the mounting bracket is like NBS-3 bolts. The mirrors themselves resemble a west coast or SD. I have a set in my shop for sale. On the truck for about a week. They didn't look aerodynamic enough for me so I took them off.
