Aftermarket Exhaust for the AV?

Recommended Posts

I am looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my AV.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I would prefer dual exhaust out the back, but on the AV that doesn't look feezable.  I am looking for something that has good rumble, but won't annoy the wife too much in the cab.  I have a baby in the rear seat.

Any suggestions is greatl;y appreciated.

:) Check out Gibson. Make an extreme dual kit which comes out on each side and a dual straight out the back kit. I am leaning towards the extreme dual kit( it runs $349 thru summit racing). Or i may get a flowmaster 50 series suv muffler and have a local exhaust shop bend the pipes. Either way the cost is about the same. I have used gibson exhaust systems before, they are good quality and very easy to put on. Borla makes a dual kit also, but I think that comes out one on each side it runs about $700. just my $.02 Nick r

Pardon my dumb question but I am a bit new to the exhuast world.  It seems everyone hear is making exhaust mods.  What are the main reasons in doing so?  Is it for the hp/torque or the gas mileage or is it just for the rumbling.  I think I would really enjoy all of those things but not sure the wife will let the rumbling go too much.  What might be some options that add a tougher sound to my Av without making a huge difference....just enough to add some throat for my ears but not enough that she hears the rumble from 2 blocks away.  I definatley do not want to become one of those dang noisy ricers that drags my neighborhood.

I just added the Gibson single swept side exhaust to my 5.3L 4x4 Avalanche and I am very pleased.  I was not looking for the noise either.  My wife hasn't even noticed, she just knows I did something to the truck and it cost afew hundred bucks.  If you know it's there you can here it, otherwise it's no big deal.

But if you stomp the gas... you can feel it.

Go for it. :)
