97 fuel filter replacement problems

Recommended Posts

Well, I tired to change the fuel filter on my daughters new 97 Chevy and the aft nut is rounded out. Thanks to whomever didn't use as flare nut wrench! I think I'm going to have to replace the whole fuel line...any input from the crowd?

Hmmmm, I don't recall if that's a standard flare or if it's type with an o-ring. Probably the latter.

If it's a standard flare, you could cut it off and reflare it. It needs to be a double flare and there may not be a way to make up for the amount of line you'll lose by cutting.

Best to try a smaller propane type torch.
