asepgrad98 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 For the past year or so my wife's 2000 Alero wont go past about 1/2 throtte in first gear without lots of shuddering/slipping. Is this a common problem that can be fixed with a pressure control solenoid or something easy like that? Any chance it would be worth a shot to get the PCM re-flashed? Should i just set the car on fire and try to get insurance money? I changed the filter at 50k has 68K now. The POS doesnt have a dipstick so i filled it up to the top of the hole like the service manual says to with no difference(when i changed the filter i justed added 7 qts and didnt fill it to the hole because i didnt want to overfill it.
GM-Tech Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Reflashing the PCM won't do squat for that sort of problem. Sounds gasoline and a match might be the best bet. Without some pressure readings when this is happening, hard to say what's going on. We don't do many of those type of transmissions. They're pretty good.
