Tow/Haul switch stopped working on 2000 Suburban

I have owned my 2000 Suburban 4X4 for about 5 months and recently noticed that my Tow/Haul switch seems to have stopped working. It responded normally when I did some towing two months ago, but now I get nothing.

I'm wondering if there is a relay or a fuse somewhere I could check out? Without knowing exactly how the darned switch works, I'm kind of stumped!

Thanks in advance.

The tow/haul switch is an input to the BCM. There is no fuse. One side of the switch goes to ground, the other side goes to the BCM. When you press the switch, the BCM receives the ground signal, toggling the tow/haul mode.

Most likely, the wires from the switch are broken in the column from the repeated movement of the shift lever and/or tilting the column over the years.

I just had a similar problem with my '03 Sierra. I lifted the boot on the shifter lever down where it meets the column and I found the small wire leading from the lever had become cut by the shift linkage. I spliced it back together and it's fine now.

Good luck
