Tire wear problems

I just put new tires on my truck. Its a 1999 Chevy Silverado Z71. The tires I put on it are Bridgestone Dueler A/T revo's.

My old tires were cupping very bad...outside edge was wearing strange. Front part of tread was wearing more than the rear section of the same tread - only on the outer edge. The tire shop said it was cupping and I had them do an alignment. They said it was way out of wack.... it was my first alignment in 5 years/35,000 miles.

I have around 2,000 miles on my new tires and I'm starting to notice more cupping on them - not as bad as my old ones, but its still there.

Other than an alignment, what else could cause this??? Could my shock absorbers be causing this, they are the original shocks. I would assume if I had front end issues they would have found it during the alignment.

My truck has around 59,000 miles on it.

BTW, I do drive it hard and at high speeds on the highway.

HEH... my aunt has the same kind of prejudice against Tylenol. About 20 years ago, poisoned batchs of Tylenol hit the store shelves nation-wide. Ever since, she will not touch a single Tylenol.

Firestone is still smarting after their situation of a few years ago. Many folks will not participate in their products, or partner products. This will probably remain true for decades from now.

For me, my experience with Firestone-stamped tires has been awful. But, my experience with Bridgestone-stamped tires has been entirely great. At least there are many aternative choices.

I'd suggest continue listening to the bias that you may have, but keep a curious eye open on the many surveys that may run counter to the bias.

Problem is the Bridgetones which are basically Firestones under a different name. My experience with Bridgestone is nothing but grief.

sigh... this is NOT a tire problem. My truck did the same d**n thing with another brand of tires.

Kinda seems funny for a truck with 59000 miles to have killed the shocks already. are your torsion bars turned up?

I put new shocks on at 49k miles (Bilsteins). Both front factory shocks were shot. The guy at the shop said he was surprised my tires didn't show much sign of wear problems because of it. I love my new Bilsteins by the way :banghead:
