rims getting pitted

I live in washington state and they use a de-icer on the roads that is "fish friendly" the stuff they spray actually eats the rims "aluminnium" What product do you recommend to help prevent this from happening. I was looking at winter rims but for 4 large one's for the set id rather take my chance with a product if it will protect them.

I hear yah on the road salt and stuff like that used in the winters. I bought polished alloys and now I'm wishing I bought chrome alloys in the same style. You could put a small coating of vaseline on them for protection but thats about it...

I used to swap my summer wheels out and run crappy wheels but my ruck is starting to rust out on the bottoms of the doors so I figured screw it and let them go...

Well i havnt noticed the rust yet, but i really dont want to ruin these rims, would a coat of wax or something prevent this if i keep up on it

Well we will see what happens i ended up waxing the rims then spraying them with silicone spray sure hope it works and if it does then im good

It should be ok....I decided I'm just gonna wash them asap after each storm that moves through. As soon as spring comes i can always buff them out good somehow.

Yeah i decided the same i could justify 800 dollers for winter rims and tire's that les schwab quoted so i waxed siliconed (which collects alot of brake dust) and figured id spray it down every time i see the de-icer down

the elements are eating away at that aluminum. when they rims were new they came with a highpoish and sealant. if you noticed when they were new and you washed them the soap would just run down kind like when you have freshly waxed your truck. well that finish is now gone, youre gonna have to polish and reapply some type of sealer. there's many out there. unfortunately alloy is high maintanance specially in the conditions you drive in wich mean lots of TLC...... good luck.
