Splitters or conversion programs

Would anyone know of a good splitter program or a free downloadable program that I can use to convert Real Player media to Windows WMP format so I can store it onto my PC and be able to use it offline? I have both Real Player 8 Basic and Windows' WMP v.10 on my laptop as of now. I don't want to get rid of RP8B because it is virtually idiot-proof and I already have all of my files organized as I want them. Any of the newer RP programs do not keep the files as I want them, they alphabetize them instead, and I hate that. I've tried to use a program that I found by Google, but my laptop doesn't recognize either .dll or .ax files. The splitter I had was in the .ax format, and the d**n computer didn't know where it was or how to open it. I'm not a computer guru by any means, some days I'm surprised I can turn the d**n thing on. If anyone knows what would work, let me know. We can use PM's to keep the posting to a minimum. Off the top of my head, would Winamp or something like this work in this procedure and if so, does it work offline? I also don't feel like trying to burn them onto a CD, the burner I have only works half the time anyway and I don't have the $$$ to get a new one right now. Thanks to anyone that can help me with this. I posted something like this a long time back and didn't get much of a response. Maybe this time around I'll be in better shape. BTW, sorry for the long post.

If you have anything from RealNetworks installed on your machine, you should hang your head in shame, and kick your own butt.

I thought I raised you better than that son.

"Real Alternative" is a decent way of getting around that.

But then there's the almighty VLC Media Player. It's like using WMP classic. No frills, no gills, no spills, and will play just about anything.

Not sure about how either of those programs will reformat/save data, but you couldn't pay me enough to install RealNetworks software on my PC ever again. That or AOL. Both of them are borderline spyware/adware these days. Dang near impossible to remove all of their crap off a machine.

I figured out a way to save RealPlayer files as text documents and told Windows Media Classic to play them as such. They work just fine, and even play while offline.

Sa-weet!

Thanks for your help, Wingnut.
