I lost mine at 31,000 miles   It was a carrier bearing failure that did a lot of other damage. Luckily it was covered under warranty but it was still a pain in the ass,

Ouch, sorry to hear about that.  What's the word from the dealer?  Are they being pricks about you running a lift and oversized tires?  I hope you can get it all fixed up and back on the road.  Also, I hope you don't loose trust in your truck, mines coming up on two years old and 20,000 miles and has been very reliable.

The truck that lost the trans was my 3/4 ton. it is stock no lift or anything. Well I did put a bug guard on the hood but I dont think that had anything to do with the trans. My other truck has the lift and the bigger tires. 15000 on it and not problems what so ever. The dealer were I had the truck drop off today sayed they will just drop a new trans in it no prob. I ask him about the ticking under the hood and he gave me the good old "that normal speach" . I hope that they will give me something to drive in the meantime.

I think that is what is happening to my truck...  (I hope not).  It is regularly (a couple times a day) revving up and then slamming into 1st gear when I go to start off.  It happened yesterday in Pittsburgh PA traffic.  I stopped for a light on a hill and when I went to take off the truck didn't move and the tach revved up to about 2500 RPM and then "bang" it dropped into gear and lit the tires up!!!  It scared the crap out of me...

Was yours doing this kind of stuff?

Shaners, that sounds like you're low on fluid.

I lost a few trannys in my day . I have been chevy vans for work for the past 20 years. So I have been through a few trannys. When this on cut loose on my truck it was the weirdest thing. It made a strange whirling noise then nothing.

The tranny was gone. No forward no reverse, no tranny. I will say the GM roadside assitance was great. They were there in 45min picked my truck up with a flat bed truck. I find out tomorrow what the rest of the story . How long and what kind of loner car im getting

Got my truck back today. It only took 13 days to get a new trans . I thought I was going to have to envoke the lemon law or something. The new trans work better than  the old one did so i guess it was for the better in the long run. :D

That's good news man!!!  I had mine reprogrammed, and just like you, it is working better than ever!!!   :D

BTW, a trans must be just a little easier than a transfercase, because it took 14 days to get my truck back after the t-case was replaced!!!   LOL!!!

lost mine after 5 days,   truck had 3 miles on it when i picked it up, at 35 miles it was gone.  lost 1 2 3 and reverse,   funniest thing was the dealer tried to put a rebuilt unit back in it.    after a few choice words and lemon law mentioned, I had an aftermarket tranny in place.

bastards already treated us like #### on the monte carlo that we traded in because it was a lemon, they sure as #### wasn't gonna screw us over on a 36K dollar truck.
