i have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 with a 318 V8, and i average 10 mpg. i know im not going to get really good gas mileage since it has the word dodge written on top of the engine, but i dont think it should get that bad. it has 165,481 miles, but i put a set of dual exhaust on it, i put a whole new set of bosch platinum+2 spark plugs in it. i run shell 89 octane and try to not run it over 2,000 rpm. would having that many miles have an effect on the gas mileage that much?

ok let me rephrase it....if my engine was a 327 with 165,841 miles on it and gettin 10 mpg average, would the miles on the engine be the main reason its getting bad gas mileage. (you dont have to be a dodge expert to tell whether miles is the reason a vehicle gets bad gas mileage.......do you?..n i didnt mean that in a smart alek way.)

True, but every vehicle line has it's own idiosyncrosies, and we're not familiar with what kinds of things might affect a dodge.

Bottom line... there are lots of Dodge forums out there. That would seem a much better place for you to look for your answers.
