I plan on getting an oil anaylsis done does anyone know if the dealer will back claims made from this. I purchased my truck from enterprise (rental) i know i'm pushing my luck :banghead: but at 17,000 miles and 21,000 for an 05 ext cab 4x4 w/5.3 litter i couldnt pass it up. anyways if the test comes back with abnormal wear or any major problem developing will the dealer warranty this out, being still under warranty. I figured the 40 bucks to test the tranny and engine oil is the best insurance money cna buy.

If your engine is running properly and there are no unusual noises, oil pressure is at specs, etc., consider the oil analysis something for your amusement. It won't get you anywhere with the dealer.

I'm not sure what you would expect the dealer to do. These reports tell you the varying amounts of certain compounds, metals, coolant, etc., in the lubricant, but there's nothing that says "You oil contains > .002 ppm aluminum so you need new pistons."

Years ago, GM required us to send out an oil sample on any major engine failure. This analysis never made a difference one way or another as to whether we did a warranty repair.
