i spent part of today doing my upgrade. only replaced the HU with non-lux. i also attempted to install a PAC AAI-GM24 which did not go so well. after giving up on that part i unplugged my TNR one last time to remove and unplug the tap wires for the PAC and it happened, i scratched my screen. :) i took a long break after that one. my C1 and C2 connector clips are so screwed up from the dealer trying to fix an XM problem, hence the scratch, i have to use a tiny flathead to release the clip. not sure how it made contact with the screen. in fact, on my C2 connector, 1 of the wires is bare wire with no insulation other than electrical tape around it and the rest of the wires. wonder if that's the wire they said was found loose once...

anyhow what's done is done. the scratch is not that bad, about 1 in. long and not very deep, just a constant reminder to TAKE YOUR TIME..

the PAC aux interface will have to wait. i may have JP Customs install it when they do my overhead DVD.

Wow, sorry about the troubles.

-Bare wires with no insulation are a common sight on audio harnesses. They are called "drain wires" - you see this on radio, RSE/RSA, XM and OnStar harnesses.

-There are people selling screen protectors on eBay for cheap, an overlay for touch screens. I'm going to buy a package of those babies when I upgrade my INR to a TNR.

-Those connector clips are VERY universal and used for at least the last 10 years or more in GM vehicles. When I go junkyarding, I buy harnesses or cut off plugs etc so I have spare plugs. If you play around with C1 and C2, and other plugs you'll see how they come apart and are easy to work with. You'll find those same plugs (24 pin, 12 pin and others) used for gauge clusters, body control modules, amps, climate control heads and other things! Grab yourself some spares! =)

i searched about the drain wire. it seems that the screen could be replaced if i knew the part number. of course right now it would be expensive and it isn't really all that visible, especially at night.
