Power window switch back lighting.

Seems like I have had to replace evey interior bulb on my truck, so it's only natural to replace the bulb for the power window switch back lighting. My advice, "DON'T DO IT!"

 

This is for a 99-? NBS Silverado (Power windows, locks)

This took me all evening to replace one bulb. Once I got the switch apart or most ways. (Note that I took the switch assembly out of the truck, removed the interior trim piece, which left the switches and their housing. Pull the switch buttons off, and then the black piece which covers the circuit board.)

I had the circuit board with the switches and the black housing for it, all that I needed to do was remove the housing. This is the piece that the wiring harnesses plug into. But all the pins that plug into the harness are pressed through the black plastic housing, then through the circuit board where they are soldered in place. So one by one I removed them which is a pain, and not nearly as easy as one would think. This took 45% of the time. Once those were off the circuit board was able to be removed from the housing allowing access to the back side where the bulb is soldered. Replace bulb and start reassembly in the reverse order. Which took another 45% of total time, again not nearly as easy as one would think. The remaining 10% of time was everthing else.

When finished I took it out, plugged it in and whoolah the bulb worked (Big sigh of relief), I tried the buttons and all worked but Unlock (Lots of cussing), I haven't looked into the unlock button not working so I'll get to that later, luckily I had a spare from EBAY.

Hope this helps anybody that like fixing something rather than buying new.
