replacement ECM help!

hi i was the one changing my heater core. i followed all the instructions in my truck repair book replacing the core and when i disconected the ECM the RED harness had broke one pin off of the ECM now i need a new computer. can i just buy a used one from a junk yard?the PROM in my ECM is brandnew. my machanic said he needed to get some nuber off my computer and call it in to the dealer for a new one. my question is if i get one from the junk yard will it work with my new PROM and work on my truck.

If you get the same part number computer from a junkyard, yeah, it'll work assuming the one you get is okay. In the older computers, before programming came about, the PROM had all the information needed to set the ECM up for your particular vehicle.

soo. do i use my new PROM chip in the (assuming i find one) replaced computer or just use the one that is in it?

Use yours. It is possible whatever is in it is for a totally different vehicle.

Order one up from Westers Tune. Might as well have a performance PCM if you have to replace it.
