Kinda new

Well I have attained some valuable info from this site BTU . My last p/u was an 89' K2500 bare bones truck used for trans and towing my boat but it's gone .

So I just bought a 89' K1500 GMC 4X4 Z71 powered by an 383 STROKER TBI highrise manifold built by my mech @ work, 8 qt opil cap. new OD trans, new posi 373 rears , new brakes , 3" exhaust into muff. 2 1/2 out to the rear dual. It had a frame off sand blast frame zinced and painted and body work paint etc. 2004'. new brake lines ,gas tank& lines . there is more but ,it has some nicks and scrapes

since the rebuild it's run 15/40 rotella T and gets 17 MPG around town my mechanic babied this truck never even buried the speedo it has 30,000 on the rebuild this will be my unit to tow my 3800 lb boat around and back &forth to work , Sorry to babble but it has the K&N replacement air filter ,

My question is is there any home remidy to clean the filter or should I break down and purchace the K&N cleaning kit? Any help would be great!!
