Brake help please

I'm in the process of trying to replace my rear brake pads. This is on an 01 Yukon XL 4wd.

 

I've got the two 12mm caliper bolts loose, but they are still extending into the bracket so that I can't remove the caliper. I've been fooling around for 2 hours trying to get one caliper off. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brad,

 

You have to hold the "spacer" thing with some pliers and then it will spin out. Had this problem last night on my 00 Yukon XL.

that "spacer thing" is the caliper slide pin, hold it with a 5/8 wrench

 

edit: i just noticed the date on the original post. wonder if he got it out yet
