OnStar/DIC Messages

I took a trip up to the moutains this last weekend and while I was driving up into snow country I got a message on the DIC that said 'ICE POSSIBLE' and then on my rearview mirror it kept flashing between the temp, '38' and 'ICE'. I also got it the next day after I drove around for a bit I stopped at a gas station, when I turned the truck back on, the message popped up again at startup. I've driven my truck down here in the valley (never any snow) when the temp has been around 30 and I've never gotten that message. I'm just wondering what prompted this message to pop up, was it a sensor on the truck or is it a signal sent out by OnStar or somthing? And what other messages could my truck tell me like that? I've looked in both the OnStar book and the owners manual and it states nothing about this message.

On my non-DIC Sierra, my rear view mirror shows "ICE" when the temperature is between 0 and 3 degrees C. I'm sure it not your OnStar sending a message, but rather it is the temperature probe.
