they are really hiding that back glass, just like on the 1500's

And the fender opening is really squared off

Looks like the same ole whore with new lip stick to me.

I agree. As far as the frame, tailpipe, suspension, and tires (what you can see of them), it all looks mechanically the same. Little, dinky tires with the stink bug look. On some other pictures of the HD's the park brake cable even looks identical. Oh well, I was not expecting any more than a face lift, some lipo, and a new interior. After seeing the new SUV's, I think the "wow factor" of seeing the new trucks will be overated. Dimes to dollars, they will look almost identical.

I think we can draw from the front end that the appearance will not be identical to the Tahoes, Suburbans, and Yukons. Look at the headlights--they're stacked. I'm sure this has been speculated and if it has, sorry for pointing out the obvious. I kinda like it!

Sorry for the confusion. If you read my post, I said almost identical. And yes, the GMC headlights are stacked on the Yukons. How do we know this truck is not a GMC. I am sure there will be subtle differences between the trucks and SUVs on the facia. With the money GM is losing, I would bet there are hardly any differences in the body panels and doors.

Hey man I wasn't trying to correct you... sorry about the misunderstanding! It doesn't look bug eyed enough to be the GMC... You could very well be right, though. I got to looking again and noticed that the corners of the headlights on the sides of the truck are square edged. The Yukon's are more rounded. I could be wrong but that makes me think its a Chevrolet. I'm ready to see these babies in the buff!

Depends on how a guy defines "restyled truck". To me they have been the same since 1999. They can change hood bulges and headlight appearances but to me they are the same truck. It'll be a "restyled truck" in my mind when it's a completly new truck from the ground on up, i.e. OBS vs NBS.

Looks like another nose redesign, which you could probably swap to an '06 or earlier without much problem. Speaking of swapping, I'd love to get my hands on the new tow mirrors, cheap of course  . Much better design.

Now one place they could vastly improve is the interior. I get downright bored looking at the interior of my truck. EVERYTHING is the same dull monotone greyish color, from the doors to the dash to the seats. My base package Impala has 3 different color schemes inside, makes a world of difference.

Those tires look all wrong on the truck. I mean the size just seems way to small for the size of the truck and the opening. Secondly when will GM get away from the dually on the 1 tons, if I recall correctly everyone else has gotten away from the dually 1 ton.

Will just have to wait and see if all the hipe is worth the wait.

Have a great day.

Look at my sig.

GMC,

I see on your sig it says 3500. Are you saying they are now making a 3500 without duallies? If so then why would the 3500 in the picture have duallies? I have always driven 1500 so I must be missing something in my knowledge.

Yep, exactly that. 3500 designates a one ton, not duals. Up until last year GM did not produce a one ton (this generation of trucks, anyways) with single rear wheels. So the only 3500, just happened to have duals. If you notice, the post refers to this truck as a 3500 "DRW" (Dual Rear Wheels). As of 05, another choice is 3500 "SRW" (Single Rear Wheels). Identical trucks accept for the wheel config. BTW, in March (I think) GM will offer a 3500 SRW standard bed (now the 3500 SRW is only available in a long bed). Clear as mud?

Let's add to the confusion shall we??

OBS (1988 to 1998) 3500 SRW had a GVWR of 9,200

OBS 3500 DRW had a GVWR of 10,000 (I think)

OOBS (That's old old body style :D pre 1988) had a heavy duty option for a 3500 SRW, no labeling to tell it apart from a standard 3500 (9,200 GVWR), that gave a GVWR of 9,600. My dad has this style in an '84. It was really only just the leaf spring set up of a dually without the dual wheels. The limiting factor that was was tire load rating. which is why it couldn't have the same rating as a dually.

Now....

NBS 2500HD has a GVWR of 9,200

NBS 3500 SRW has a GVWR of 9,900

NBS 3500 DRW has a GVWR of 11,400

Look at the numbers. The 2500HD is really just a 1 ton. The 3500 SRW is doing the same thing as years ago. It has the spring setup of a dually without the tires. The reason the GVWR is so much more than before is they are putting 245/75/16 on the truck. If you look at tire load rating you'll see about a 300 lb increase on those tires vs. the 235/85/16 they put on trucks pre 1988. So once again the limiting factor in this setup is the tires.

More than you ever wanted to know
