replacing the head unit

I just got a 2006 2500 HD CC. The factory head unit and speakers have to go. I have the non bose system and it sounds horrible.

 

If I remove the head unit, will the factory theft deterrant system and Driver Information Center still work as normal?

Mine does. I did buy the optional Metra VT-GMRC-01 GM Class II Data bus Interface to retain the door chimes though.
