Odd noise

I noticed an irritating grinding-like noise from the front end several months ago - I thought for sure it was the brakes wearing down, as it only seemed to make the noise at the tail-end of braking. The pads still had over 60% on them.

 

Now, the noise has gotten worse. When I come to a stop, the noise continues for about 3-5 seconds afterwards and now feels like it's coming from underneath the cab. When I reverse, I hear the noise often also. Nothing when I'm accelerating and driving normal.

 

Any ideas? At first I was thinking the bearings perhaps, but now I'm wondering if it's something to do with the driveshaft? I have no idea where to start. . .any help would be appreciated.

The truck doesn't shudder. . .I can just slightly feel the vibration with the awful sound.

Well you need to get under there and grab the driveshaft or shafts if it's 4x4 and check for play. But your brake's are fine right ? I would not think that the pig would be going bad with that kind of mile's on it.

So it make's the noise after the truck is stopped? Maybe body mount? rubber could be bad. Some cabs have been known to crack. Is the truck bouncing when you stop (shocks) Exhaust could be loose? Can you pull up and stop and have some one pinpoint the noise from outside?

Yes true a pipe could be chating with something and make vibe's.
