Sears floor jacks

I bought one of the aluminum types for about $200 in Dec. 2004. Made in China, great. It came low on jack oil and I had to buy some to get it to work. Dec. 2005 it quits. Sears only warrantys it 90 days. Sears won't service floor jacks even though all their floor jack advertisements say "We service what we sell." you can go online and check. Sears currently doesn't offer repair parts for it and advise not to wait for them. So in other words you got a nice piece of scrap aluminum there buddy. Cost of ownership = $16.66 a month and major fustraition.

So I said "screw it". I needed another jack that day so this time I bought the Sears $70 SUV steel jack since I knew I couldn't get it repaired or buy parts and it was Sunday and NAPA was closed. Napa's jacks cost $250 or so. This was Dec. 3rd. Made in China, great. It came low on jack oil and I used some more from the bottle I bought last year to get it to work. Today, about the third or forth time I've tried to "home use" it the d**n thing won't lift to the top. It's rated for 21" and gets 14". I can't put my car on stands. Guess what, it's 9 days out of warranty. Cost of ownership = $23.00 a month and fustration to the point of going out and paying what ever it costs to get a real jack that never came from a Chinese steel ship.

Sears has lost a customer, until they rectify this situation. I'm taking both of them back, IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING thank you very much, and demanding satisfaction. Something tells me I'll be waisting my time.

I have a cheap Sears floor jack. I've had it for a year or so and I think I only used it once to raise my lawnmower. I guess I'll be pushing my luck if I use it again. I firmly believe that if China ever gets mad at us and cuts off the goods they make for us we will be royally screwed. When I see what we use that is made in China I wonder why the unenployment rate isn't higher.

I've had my Craftsman floor jack for a number of years now with no problems. I use it every year to jack up my truck to swap summer and winter tires and my 25' horse trailer to repack the bearings. Never had to add oil.

Wonder if you got a couple jacks that were manufactured on Friday afternoons?

Sorry to hear it. I've got both the Craftsman 2 ton aluminum and the 4 ton heavy duty and both worked fine right out of the box and haven't given me any problems since. (Both are made in China as well.)

I think you've got every right to expect them to rectify the problem and I hope that it doesn't turn out to be a waste of your time.

I recently had a Sears floor jack problem as well. Won't hold. Bleeds downs after a while and sometimes pukes oil. 60 days out of warranty and they want $75 to repair it.

They lost another customer.

I had that problem with a walmart one. the second time I used it, I noticed the pin that brings the pumping part back up on the up stroke, was broke. walmart doesn't even carry thtat brand anymore (within 1 year.)

i was once a sears or napa only kinda guy but after sears started to put out 3 bad jacks in a row i went looking elsewhere and found a Kobalt 3ton at Lowes and used it in the shop for a few months untill my other 2 craftsman jacks took a dump. next day i was at lowes buying 2 more kobalts.

now ive had all three for 2 yrs with daily use and no probs. plus i think there made in the USA

just my 2 cents give one a try i think there still like 80-100 bucks

I still have my sears craftsman 2 ton floor jack, had it for 24 years and just last year had to add some oil to it for the first time and it keeps on jacking.

I learned my lesson years ago with Sears, everything they have, with the exception of wrenches, is junk. Even worse than Menards.

I've had my Sears Craftsman going on 12 years. No problems at all. I use it often 1-2 times per week. Past 7 years, its used on commercial trucks; Front-off the sides... the center is too heavy, Rear-off differential. Jack wheels will sink into asphalt. I'm pleased with my jack. Past several years, I have noticed a decline in product quality. As an example, take a close look at their tools. You can feel the change in your hands. I break ratchets, screwdrivers, and sockets often. Easier now than the older tools.
