transgo HD2 shift kit questions

I have a 2005 Sierra 1500 2wd rc/lb 4.8l 3.23/g80 stock pcm 4l60e and stock torque converter.

I'm looking for a little bit of performance and extended life from the transgo shift kit.

With the HD2 kit do you have to custom tune the pcm to get rid of torque mgmt? Let me rephrase-Can you install this shift kit w/o changing the torque mgmt?

Do you have to go deeper into the transmission than the valve body to install all the parts in the HD2 kit?

Has anyone honed the valve body before putting it back in so it's perfectly flat? What did you use?

What about using a different valve body core to do all the mods to?

I was thinking of just installing the HD2 kit using the smallest drilled out holes without the corvette servo and replace the plastic covers and parts inside the valve body. I'll get the corvette servo at the same time but not install it right away. I'd plan on working my way up from soft to firm. Should I even be considering this right now? Should I wait until it's out of warranty?

What about the sonnex sure-cure kit for the 4l60e?

TIA

My general understanding is that tinkering with torque management requires re-programming, but you should be cautious about removing it entirely (Westers custom tuning recommends leaving some optimal amount of it in to prevent tranny damage). Too much torque is tough on the 4L60e.

FWIW, I just installed the vette servo yesterday (for both performance and increased tranny life) with all GM parts and am amazed at the incremental responsiveness of this mod alone. Upshifting and downshifting is now almost instantaneous, and passing is especially fun. Definitely a mod that lets you tap more of the power of these engines. You may want to try this relatively un-invasive mod before undertaking the transgo install. Also, I hear that the Trailblazer torque converter from the I-6 engine will really liven things up in our full-size 5.3L trucks (maybe wait to do the transgo at the same time as the TC upgrade).
