Cab/Clearance Lights on a Suburban 1500

I've been looking into having clearance markers installed on the top of my 03 Suburban 1500. I've seen kits out there that sell lights that are like the lights on the Silverado/Suburban 2500's (the three light unit).

My question is, how difficult is the installation? I may have a shop do it because I am alittle hesitant about drilling holes into the car myself. Also, does the wiring exist in the 1500's so that I don't have to add a separate switch for the lights?

Thanks for the help!

Hey guys...I just bought a pair for my truckk.....Go to JCWhitney.com They are under clearance lights. I got the OEM looking ones which have the two outside and three connected. It is not cheap though almost $90 shipped. But i REALLY wanted the new style look.

Does anyone know the GM part number for their roof mounted lights? I would like to compare costs before buying.

The GM lights are going to easily run three times the cost any of the aftermarket lamps. The quality is identical.

What was the install like?

Did you do it yourself?

A shop near me quoted $119 for the install (including the lights).

I installed a set on my truck this weekend. This is the first time I have put a set on a GM, I have done several Dodge sets in the past. The most dificult part was the center light. I did not use the plastic clips for the square homes, I had screwed striaght int the metal on all of the past sets with no problems. There is very little room for hole misalignment when there are six screws to match up, I would recoment macing a cardboard template for the center light with the hole locations carefully marked. I bought a used set of of eBay so I had to come up w/ my own wiring, I added a relay triggered of of the Illumination lead on the radio and will later add many more running lights to the truck run from the relay as well. I also ran all of the wiring for the fog, driving, aux reverse, and field lights as well as the onboard air system that will be added soon. It took me about 8 hours to get it all done with several short brain storming stops. If just doing the cab lights I would estimate about 2 hours. make sure you have a set of Torx wrenches, they will be needed to drop the head liner.

Was that $180 for just the labor, or $180 including the lights themselves?
