Which 4wd mode did you use? 4 hi, 4 lo, Autotrak?

When I lock mine into 4wd high, it turns much wider than if I was in Auto or 2wd. Binding in the front end when your in 4wd is common to very pickup. I also hear a few new noises and things when I'm in 4wd, but I'm not worried about them.

Is your 4wd working? Can you tell that all 4 wheels have power?

Sounds like we may be going through the same problem. Do the lights indicate that the four wheel drive is engaged? The dealer has been giving me the run around about mine. Does yours engage if you are rolling and then hit the button?

You could try this:

Subject: 1999-2005 Chevrolet/GMC All Full Size Cab Silverado and Sierra Squeak or Creak Noise from Underbody Over Bumps - kw body bolt bracket cable frame suspension GMT800 #PIT3401 - (01/25/2005)

.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Squeak or creak noise from the underbody over larger bumps or potholes.

.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The cab safety strap may be creating the squeak/creak noise. Remove the lower bolt of the safety strap at the body mount. Fabricate an insulator washer from some type of sheet plastic (washer bottle...etc.) Install this washer between the bolt head and the body mount bracket. Reinstall the bolt and tighten to torque specification of 85 Nm (62 ft lbs).

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Models:

(99-05 Chevrolet Silverado Regular Cab) and (99-05 GMC Sierra Regular Cab)
