i am wondering if anyone knows about lights just buring out in climate contol panels, or on ANY panel as a matter of fact. i took apart my panel and saw that the bulbs are all soldered to a circuit board and didnt wanna start melting them off and finding new bulbs to solder back on. SO.. if anyone knows of a cheap place to purchase a panel to replace mine, or a fix then please respond. thanks!!

I'm currently replacing mine with LED's. I have replaced the bulbs as well. I got mine from radio shack, if you can solder it's no big deal.

P.S. I stink at soldering and I managed. Also I want a replacement control too, from earlier adventures of trying to fix it and I think it's been damaged slightly, so I want a spare in case it doesn't survive my current undertaking.

I just did mine with radio shack and ebay bulbs. it is quite easy, less than 30 minutes to solder. I recommend buying some solder wick to help with desoldering. I didn't have this and it still went ok. by the time you are done you will be a solder wiz.

just replace the bulbs, no big deal.

In the ac/heat control panel there are two sizes of bulbs. The smaller bulbs (behind the push buttons) I was able to find at RadioShack. I can't seem to find any info on them. Thankfully I don't have any of those burnt out. Would the same bulbs from RadioShack work or are they too small to adequately light the area?

What bulbs are folks finding that are adequate?

I just re-read my earlier post and my question pertained to the larger bulb found in the control panel. I know the RadioShack bulb works for the smaller. Just wondering if they'll work for replacement on the larger bulbs.

Excellent info, Chuck! Just what I was looking for as well. Now I just have to find some time to do the work!

Anything fancy about how the stock CD player comes out?

The CD Player just slides out once you have the trim bezel off. Just a little tricky getting the harness and antenna out as there isn't a lot of slack there.

Then to get the face off the CD Player, BE GENTLE!

Pull off your tuning, Volume, Bass, treble, balance, and faders knobs. They should all just pull off.

Then If I remember correctly there are 2 brass screws on the bottom of the CD Player that you have to remove so that the face of the player clears it.

The face itself is just clipped in there, pick a corner and start prying it off. The Circuit board is screwed to the face and has some stupid little bolt head screws that hold it on. The only way I could find to remove them was to use some small vice grips as I didn't have the right size nut driver.

Then away you go on removing the stock bulbs and putting your LEDs in.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers

Evan
