small coolant leak

I have a 99 Yukon with a 5.7 Vortec engine with 188,000miles. I am having to add coolant every couple months. I have replaced the radiator cap and checked the hoses and pump for leaks but none found. The oil is changed often and is clean from cooling fluid. I know of the problems with the gaskets, but I'm not convinced. Is there anything else I'm missing? If it is the gasket, could it be getting burned up instead of going into the oil? I do a lot of highway driving and don't want to be stranded, but also don't want to throw money away either.

Thanks for the help!!

I'd bet on an intake gasket. Could also be the fitting at the right front of intake. If you do an intake gasket be sure to replace it to no matter what it looks like. Best thing to do is to use a pressure tester and let it sit overnight.

I replace the nipple on the intake a couple of years ago because of corrosion.

I have a 2000 Sierra 4X4 and the same thing happened to me. I was losing coolant, and like you, was having to add it every couple months. I searched and searched for the leak, but couldn't seem to find it. I thought I smelled it sometimes. I found it by accident one day. There are two little rubber hoses that attach to each side of the bottom of the throttle Body. My dealer had replaced the throttle body (it was sticking like crazy) and they didn't get the hose all the way up on the nipple. It was running down and burning off on the block. You might want to check it out. It's worth a shot.
